Summer Camp Weekend Retreat - August 2024

Want to get away for a weekend of dedicated sewing? Ever wish you could have an expert close by to ask any questions that come up? This is the retreat for you!

Join us for our Summer Camp Weekend Retreat at Makers Hideaway! Come for almost three days of dedicated sewing time with a sewing expert + the Style Maker team available to help however they can!

Need help with a specific sewing technique? Can't figure out what fabric to use for a particular project? Want to give your garment that extra "WOW" factor? Take advantage of the knowledge and expertise of those around you to help you achieve your sewing goals and accomplish as much as you'd like throughout the weekend.

This summer, Karen Dolen (@intostitches) is joining us as our expert, and she is bringing her vast sewing knowledge to help you tackle your troubles or take your project to the next level. Throughout the weekend, she will also demonstrate some of her favorite techniques based on the group's interests. These may include Professional Pressing, French Seams, Easy Bias Binding, Ban-Roll Hems, Collar Points, Perfect Pockets, and Aligning Intersecting Seams.

This is an all-inclusive sewing weekend escape! It includes shared luxury lodging, food + drinks + snacks, and instruction from our sewing experts. Bring yourself, your sewing machine (if possible), and the projects you want to work on, and enjoy a weekend of sewing, relaxation, and time with fellow sewists!

We'll take care of all the cooking and cleaning! That means even more dedicated sewing time! The Style Maker Fabrics shop will also be open throughout the weekend if you need additional supplies or other projects to work on.

Retreat Dates: 

Thursday, August 1st thru Sunday, August 4th, 2024

Location: Makers Hideaway retreat center, Stanwood, Washington

• Roughly one hour North of Seattle.
• Fifteen minutes from Smokey Point (I-5 exit 206)
• Convenient from Stanwood or Everett train stations or Everett's Paine Field Airport (PAE). There is also a local shuttle from SeaTac Airport (SEA) if needed.

We'll be in contact with each attendee in the weeks leading up to the event to make sure everything is in place for a worry-free weekend!

Instructor Bio: 

Karen Dolen is a local sewist with over 50 years of experience in just about every area of sewing. While she is know for her incredible coats and jackets, she loves combining her passions for fabric, fashion, and style in every garment she makes, creating one-of-a-kind pieces she loves wearing as much a sewing! Cancellation Policy: For cancellations made on or before 7/15/24, there is a $50 processing fee. For cancellations made after 7/15/24, 50% of the registration fee will be refunded.
