Notes About Needle Types:
Universal
- Your go-to all-purpose needle with a slightly rounded tip.
- Suggested Fabrics: Wide Range of Wovens and Knits
- Available Sizes: 80/12, 90/14 (5 pack and 10 pack), and 100/16
Microtex (Sharp)
- Designed with a very slim point for straight, precise stitching lines.
- A good choice for topstitching and quilting where precision is important.
- Suggested Fabrics: Micro Fibers, Polyester, Faux Leather/Suede, and Coated Fabrics
- Available Sizes: 70/10 and 80/12
Jersey
- Feature a medium ball point to prevent thread/fiber breakage.
- Suggested Fabrics: Jersey, Ponte, Other Knit Fabrics and Some Stretch Fabrics (Athletic-wear, etc.)
- Available Sizes: 80/12 and 90/14
Stretch
- Combine a medium ball point with a special eye and scarf to prevent skipped stitches.
- Suggested Fabrics: Elastic and Highly Elastic Knit Fabrics (Such as Athletic or Swimwear)
- Available Size: 75/11 and 90/14
Quilting
- Designed specifically for piecing and machine quilting with a special taper and slightly rounded point.
- A good choice for bag making.

How do you choose the right needle size? A good rule of thumb is the finer the fabric, the smaller the needle (the lower the number).
Example: A light weight rayon or voile, you would want to try a Microtex or Universal needle in size 70/10 or 80/12. Experiment with the different sizes and types to see what gives you the best results.
